Twenty-five years after its inauguration, the Gens de l’alpe exhibition at the Dauphinois Museum, which has left its mark on several generations of visitors, is getting a makeover. The mountains and their inhabitants remain the focus of the museum’s new reference exhibition, now called Alpines, 7,000 years of history.

Inhabited for millennia, the Alpine mountain is home to populations who have constantly adapted over time to live or survive in this unique environment. This is the story that the Dauphinois Museum wants to tell you, the story of a long process of adaptation: to high altitudes and slopes, to changing climates, to political, military, socio-economic and migratory events, to technical transformations…
