Glass Museum of Meisenthal

CIAV - Centre International d’Art Verrier localisation du projet Meisenthal

The Meisenthal Glassworks was founded in 1704 in the Northern Vosges mountains in Eastern France. It produced tens of millions of pieces of cheap glassware. After several years of work, a building with an astonishing architecture was built. The preserved brick walls have been draped with a concrete tablecloth, like the architectural signature of the rehabilitated site. As a real signaling station, it houses a reception/ticketing area as well as a shop offering objects made exclusively in the CIAV (International Glass Art Center) workshops, including the famous Meisenthal Christmas baubles.
