Malbrouck castle

Moselle Department localisation du projet Manderen-Ritzing

Design, creation and installation of a historical trail at Malbrouck Castle

Built in the first half of the 15th century by Count Arnold VI of Sierck, the castle takes its name from an episode in the War of the Spanish Succession and the visit in 1705 of the Duke of Marlborough, whose nickname Malbrouck, given to him by the French, was popularised by the song Malbrough s’en va-t’en guerre. Listed in 1930 and owned by the Moselle Department since 1975, this historic monument underwent extensive restoration work over a decade (1989-1998).

The castle stands imposingly in the heart of Europe, 10 km from Schengen, on the borders of Germany and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

In addition to the cultural interest provided by exhibitions and the promotion of the ninth art, the castle naturally has undeniable heritage, historical and tourist appeal. With this in mind, in 2019 the Moselle Department began rolling out mediation tools throughout the castle.
